1849 - Coins

Mormon Gold Pieces were coins minted by the Mormon community during the mid-19th century, specifically in 1849. These coins were created to facilitate commerce in the Utah Territory, which was outside of the established U.S. minting system at the time. The two denominations produced were $2.50 and $5, featuring designs that often included the motto "Holiness to the Lord" and included imagery relevant to the Mormon faith. Due to their historical significance and limited mintage, Mormon Gold Pieces are highly sought after by collectors today.
