Kennedy Half Dollars are a series of coins issued by the United States, first minted in 1964 to honor President John F. Kennedy following his assassination. The 2014 Kennedy Half Dollar was struck by the San Francisco Mint, and it is primarily produced for collectors rather than for general circulation. These coins are made of 90% silver and 10% copper or, in later issues, have been minted in a copper-nickel composition. The Fifty Cents denomination features an image of Kennedy on the obverse and a depiction of the presidential seal on the reverse.
