Franklin Half Dollars are a series of 50-cent coins issued by the United States from 1948 to 1963. The coins feature a portrait of Benjamin Franklin on the obverse and the Liberty Bell on the reverse. The 1961 Franklin Half Dollar, minted in Philadelphia, is part of the last few years of this series before it was replaced by the Kennedy Half Dollar following President John F. Kennedy's assassination. These coins are sought after by collectors for their historical significance and silver content, as they contain 90% silver.
