Philadelphia - Coins

The Three Cent coin, also known as the "trime," was produced by the United States Mint from 1851 to 1873. It was designed primarily to facilitate the transaction of postage during the period of rising postal rates. In 1875, the Mint created trial coins and patterns for potential new designs or denominations, which were often produced in limited quantities at the Philadelphia Mint. These patterns are highly sought after by collectors due to their rarity and significance in numismatic history.
