The 50 Statehood Quarters program was initiated by the United States Mint between 1999 and 2008 to honor each of the 50 states. The quarters were released in the order that the states joined the Union. The 2006 quarters include the coins for Nevada, Nebraska, and Colorado, among others. Coins from the Denver Mint bear a "D" mint mark, distinguishing them from those produced at the Philadelphia Mint, which do not have a mint mark. The 25-cent denomination, specifically, features the state-related designs on the reverse, while the obverse retains the image of George Washington.
