1999 - Coins

The 50 Statehood Quarters program, initiated by the United States Mint in 1999, featured a series of quarters commemorating each of the 50 states. Each quarter was released in the order that the states ratified the Constitution or were admitted into the Union, with five designs released each year. These coins, minted in copper-nickel clad and featuring unique state-specific imagery, became popular among collectors and the general public, as they provided a means of engaging with state history and pride. The program concluded in 2008, having significantly impacted numismatics and promoting coin collecting.
