Indian Cents, also known as Indian Head pennies, were produced by the United States Mint from 1859 to 1909. The 1881 Indian Cent, struck in Philadelphia, features a depiction of Lady Liberty in a feathered headdress on the obverse and a wreath on the reverse, representing unity and peace. These coins are made of 88% copper and 12% nickel, giving them a distinctive brown color when circulated. The 1881 issue is not considered rare, but its availability in higher grades can command a premium among collectors.
