The unique set of 1872 Amazonian pattern coins in gold is one of the most celebrated rarities in the entire series of U.S. coins. This spectacular set is unique in many ways: (1) it is the only set of its kind ever made, (2) it is the only set of gold patterns ever produced with a common design theme, and (3) the $3 gold piece in the set is the only pattern of this denomination ever to have been struck in gold!
