The 1931-D Mercury dime was produced in relatively small numbers of barely more than 1.2 million, though this issue isnt as rare as that low mintage may suggest. Many collectors, aware of its low mintage, saved this coin in decent quantity and have helped provide plenty of specimens for collectors today through the Gem grades. The 1931-D Mercury dime was among the last issues from this series before a two-year production hiatus spurred on by the Great Depression.
