Like many early branch-mint Mercury dimes, the 1919-D is common in circulated condition and notably scarce in uncirculated grades. The 1919-D Mercury dime is especially tough in Gem grades, and pieces grading MS66 or higher are extremely rare. Much of this is due to the fact that there are relatively few well-struck pieces, thus Full-Bands examples and nice uncirculated specimens in general are extraordinarily challenging and highly sought after.
