1913 $5

Coin / United States of America / 1913 / Philadelphia / $5 Indian Gold / $5 (Five Dollars)

From a very small mintage of just 99 the 1913 matte proof Indian Half Eagle is an exceptionally rare coin with unique, pristine surfaces. Like other gold proofs of this time the surfaces were dull but the detail was as crisp as could be. Another fact coming from its late proof gold manufacturing is that these coins are only usually collected in grades 60 through 70 in today’s market. PR65 through PR67 are the most popular collector grades with anything finer being a highly desired major rarity. Very few coins even exist graded under PR65 for this issue with some PR67’s and up also that seem just perfect.
