1889-O $1

Coin / United States of America / 1889 / New Orleans / Morgan Dollars / $1 (One Dollar)

Common through MS64 the 1889-O Morgan dollar is very scarce in MS65 and exceptionally rare in MS66 or better. Part of this scarcity of Gems derives from the relatively poor strikes seen on many O-mint pieces such as this one. Meanwhile, PLs and DMPLs are also very scarce though certainly not unknown, but they are rare in the Gem levels and thus command strong premiums.
