With a stoppage in production of two years, the Three Cent Nickel Series returned in 1879 with a far lower mintage from all previous years with just 38,000 coins struck. Very common up to MS65 at which point the coin becomes scarce as a high-gem. Only the finest of gems are very rare. The strike for this issue is very strong with clash-marks not being as much of an issue as in the 1879.
