1864 2c Large Motto BN

Coin / United States of America / 1864 / Philadelphia / 2-Cent Pieces / 2c

This year the Mint struck the Two Cent coins with a Small Motto which was later changed to the Large Motto. The Large Motto of IN GOD WE TRUST ended up being the permanent choice of design for the remainder of the time this denomination was produced. The Large Motto is considered the type coin for the date. Scarce only as a high grade gem. The color designations show a very gradual increase in value and rarity.
